What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are custom insoles which maximize foot and body mechanics while we stand, walk and run by controlling motion, weight distribution and reactive ground pressure.

Everyone’s feet are different and each person’s feet require a focused corrective alignment which is performed by certified technicians using advanced 3DO technology.

 

What makes our Bio Engineered Devices (BED) different?

Our bio engineered devices are hand made by qualified technicians using materials of superior quality. We use thermo-pressed high impact polypropylene to maximize memory and take repetative cyclic loading without breaking down.

 

Usage in Organic Disease (Primary Care)

Congestive Heart Failure, Hypertension, Obesity, Diabetes, and Peripheral Vascular Disease make up the largest component of health care cost (Organic Diseases).   These diseases are in part a result of sedentary lifestyle changes where patients are less active. Load bearing joint pain is a major reason preventing these patients from becoming active. One major reason is due to cyclic load bearing joint pains throughout the body which prevents these patients from becoming more aerobic.    Most primary care physicians will acknowledge they are frustrated at getting their patients into walking programs. They know that if their patients can walk more, they can get them to lose weight, reduce blood pressure, and improve heart function and blood sugar.   

Now Physicians can implement ergonomic footwear walking programs which can help their patients get into effective aerobic walking programs. Simply getting patients more active allows physicians to reduce and many times eliminate drugs used to treat these diseases.

 

An Alternative to Toxic Oral Medications and Injections

Medicine has historically treated load bearing musculoskeletal pain symptoms with medications, rehabilitation and surgery. In part, the treatments and standard of care has been influenced by medical fees or costs. As the demands by patient and consumer markets has grown, the medical industry has responded in part through the advent of stronger and unfortunately stronger drugs. As the drugs have become stronger, the side effects also have followed. Many drugs such as Vioxx and Celebrex (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) have taken their toll by killing thousands of Americans.   

In addition, injectable trigger point drugs such as insoluble steroids have helped relieve pain but at a great cost to the patient through catabolic teardown of bone and soft tissue.

As Functional Biomechanics emerged, so did the complexity as the understanding of Mass, Motion, Gait, Pressure load patterns, cyclic load profiles, and dynamic geometric load data complicated the landscape or understanding. This left most physicians walking away from the science because it was just too complex to understand. The money was in surgery and not biomechanics. Now the landscape is changing and patients are taking more control of their health care, surgical fees have dropped by 70%, and surgical implant and drug companies are getting sued. Patients are getting the message and they want access to biomechanical and ergonomic solutions which treats the cause of their disease.
